Netflix has released the official full-length trailer for Season 2 of "Mindhunter," the critically acclaimed David Fincher-produced Netflix series that stars Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany as a pair of 1970s FBI criminal profilers trying to launch the bureau's first ever department dedicated to the study of serial killers.

Inspired by real events and based on the true-crime book "Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit" by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker, the Netflix original series follows FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench (Groff and McCallany) as they drive across country to interview convicted murderers in the effort of understanding the twisted mind of serial killers.

Season 2 is chronicling the events surrounding the tragic and gruesome case of the Atlanta Child Murders, which was committed in 1979 to 1981 and inflamed racial tensions across the city.

The new season will also see agents Ford and Tench interview notorious cult leader killer Charles Manson (played by character actor Damon Herriman, who interestingly enough also just played Manson in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood").

Anna Torv, Cameron Britton, and Hannah Gross also co-star in the series, which is created by Joe Penhall and executive produced by Fincher and Charlize Theron.

"Mindhunter: Season 2" will start streaming August 16th, only on Netflix.
