Check out the first official teaser trailer for Season 2 of "Mindhunter," the critically acclaimed Netflix series from executive producer and director David Fincher.

The 1970s-set series, inspired by real events, stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany as Holden Ford and Bill Tench, two FBI agents who start the bureau's first ever department in criminal psychology and criminal profiling.

Based on the true-crime book "Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit" by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker, the Netflix series follows Ford and Tench as they drive across country to interview convicted serial murderers in the effort of understanding the twisted mind of killers.

Season 2 will chronicle the events surrounding the tragic and gruesome case of the Atlanta Child Murders, which was committed in 1979 to 1981.

The new season will also feature a guest star appearance by Damon Herriman (FX's Justified) as notorious cult leader killer Charles Manson. Herriman also recently played Manson in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood."

Created by Joe Penhall and executive produced by Charlize Theron, the series also stars Anna Torv, Cameron Britton, and Hannah Gross.

"Mindhunter: Season 2" premieres August 16th, only on Netflix.
