Featuring new footage of a frightening ghoulish monster who goes by the name "the Jangly Man," check out a brand-new trailer for producer Guillermo del Toro's new horror movie "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark."

Inspired by the collection of short horror stories by writer Alvin Schwartz and illustrator Stephen Gammell, the thriller centers on a group of high school teenagers who find themselves embroiled in a real-life nightmare after breaking into an old haunted house where they stumble on a mysterious book of scary stories.

Norwegian horror helmer Andre Ovredal (Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) directs the film, which is executive produced by Guillermo del Toro, the Oscar-winning director of "The Shape of Water."

Zoe Colletti (Annie), Michael Garza (Wayward Pines), Austin Abrams (Brad's Status), Gabriel Rush (Moonrise Kingdom), Austin Zajur (Fist Fight), and Natalie Ganzhorn (Make It Pop) star as the unsuspecting teens.

Co-starring Breaking Bad's Dean Norris, Shawshank Redemption's Gil Bellows, and Orange Is the New Black's Lorraine Toussaint, "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" opens August 9th.

synopsis:
From the dark imaginations of Academy Award-winner Guillermo del Toro and acclaimed director Andre Ovredal, based on the iconic book series, comes SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK --- in theaters this summer.

It's 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time -- stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying home.
