Imagine a world where superheroes exist. Now imagine those superheroes are a bunch of corporate-funded lying egomaniacs who are virtually untouchable, and can get away with just about anything -- even murder.

That's the wild, crazy setup for Amazon's new ultra-gory superhero satire series "The Boys," which is an adaptation of the graphic novel by comic book writer Garth Ennis (the creator of "Preacher") and illustrator Darick Robertson.

With the series about to premiere this Friday, Amazon has released a new official trailer, giving viewers a final peek at this darkly twisted take on the superhero genre, which have been brought to you by executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg with "Supernatural" creator Eric Kripke serving as showrunner.

The series follows a secret team of anti-superhero vigilantes, known as "The Boys," as they try to bring down the most famous -- and the most corrupt -- superhero team in the world, known as "The Seven."

Karl Urban, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, and Tomer Kapon star as the members of The Boys, while Jack Quaid plays a disillusioned store clerk who is recruited to join the team.

The supes are being played by Erin Moriarty, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, Dominique McElligott, Antony Starr, and Nathan Mitchell with Oscar-nominated actress Elisabeth Shue playing a shady corporation executive who manages the dirty business affairs for the heroes.

Featuring a guest appearance by Simon Pegg, "The Boys: Season 1" premieres Friday, July 26th, only on Amazon Prime Video.

synopsis:
In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, THE BOYS centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "The Boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes -- who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods -- abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about "The Seven," and Vought -- the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes.
