It was one of the most buzzed-about films to come out of last year's Fantastic Fest, where it took home the Jury Award for Best Feature.

Check out the official U.S. trailer for "Luz," a supernatural-tinged horror mind-bender that echoes the films of early David Cronenberg and the Italian Giallo thrillers of the 1970s and early '80s.

Marking the feature debut of German-born writer-director Tilman Singer, the stylish atmospheric thriller, which was shot in grainy 16mm, centers on a Chilean female cabdriver who, after being pursued by a supernatural entity, walks into a rundown German police station, where she soon finds herself being interrogated by a police psychologist who winds up using hypnosis to draw out her memories.

Starring Luana Velis, Jan Bluthardt, and Julia Riedler, "Luz" is opening theatrically in New York and LA on July 19th, with a multi-city release to follow.

synopsis:
