It's a new superhero series that Seth Rogen calls "insane!"

Check out the official behind-the-scenes peek at "The Boys," Amazon's upcoming adaptation of writer Garth Ennis (the creator of "Preacher") and illustrator Darick Robertson's darkly comic, darkly twisted, ultra-violent comic book series of the same name.

Executive produced by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, along with "Supernatural" creator Eric Kripke, "The Boys" is set in a world where superheroes are powerful, corporate-funded, egomaniacal hero celebrities who are deeply flawed, yet can get away with just about anything -- even murder.

The series follows an underground team of anti-superhero vigilantes, led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), as they try to bring down the most famous -- and the most corrupt -- superhero team in the world, "The Seven."

Jack Quaid (Plus One) also stars as 'Wee' Hughie Campbell, an ordinary store clerk who is recruited by Billy to join his not-so-merry band of vigilantes, known as "The Boys." (Other members are played by Avatar's Laz Alonso, Suicide Squad's Karen Fukuhara, and Tomer Kapon.)

Oscar-nominated actress Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas) co-stars as Madelyn Stillwell, who is the executive officer of a shadowy superhero corporation called Vought International. They fund and represent The Seven.

Co-starring Chace Crawford, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Dominique McElligott, Antony Starr, and Nathan Mitchell, "The Boys" is scheduled to premiere July 26th, only on Amazon Prime Video. Watch the new video, above.

synopsis:
In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, THE BOYS centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "The Boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes -- who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods -- abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about "The Seven," and Vought -- the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes.
