Amazon Studios has just released the official trailer for "The Boys," which may possibly be the most f--ked up superhero series ever.

Based on the ultra-violent comic book series of the same name by writer Garth Ennis (the creator of "Preacher") and illustrator Darick Robertson, the streaming series is set in a contemporary world where superheroes not only exist, but are treated like super-famous celebrities with special privileges. They can literally get away with murder, and some revered heroes believe they can "do whatever the f--k they want" -- the common public be damned.

Starring Karl Urban (Dredd, Star Trek) as Billy Butcher, the leader of an underground team of anti-superhero vigilantes, called The Boys, the darkly comic action drama follows a store clerk named 'Wee' Hughie Campbell (played by Jack Quaid) as he gets recruited to join the team of misfit street avengers. They proceed to investigate the world's most famous superhero team "The Seven." And as it turns out, The Seven are very corrupt with power and corporate money. They are also very aware The Boys are after them, which sets off a deadly war between the two parties.

Laz Alonso (Detroit, Avatar), Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad), and Tomer Kapon (Entebbe) co-star as the other members of the Boys: Mother's Milk, 'Female', and Frenchie.

While the superhero members of The Seven are played by Chace Crawford (as The Deep), Erin Moriarty (as Starlight), Jessie T. Usher (as A-Train), Dominique McElligott (as Queen Maeve), Antony Starr (as The Homelander), and Nathan Mitchell (as Black Noir).

Elisabeth Shue (Battle of the Sexes, Leaving Las Vegas) also co-stars as Madelyn Stillwell, the executive officer of a shadowy corporation called Vought International, who fund and preside over The Seven.

Executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg alongside "Supernatural" creator Eric Kripke, "The Boys: Season 1" is due to premiere July 26th, only on Amazon Prime Video.

synopsis:
In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, THE BOYS centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "The Boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes -- who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods -- abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about "The Seven," and Vought -- the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes.
