Gotham has a new crime-fighting hero, and she is a total badass, just like her cousin.
Check out the official "first look" trailer for "Batwoman," CW's forthcoming superhero action series from producer Greg Berlanti (Arrowverse) and showrunner Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries, Smallville).
Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black) stars as Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne's tough-as-nails out-lesbian cousin who returns to a crime-ridden Gotham where Batman and Bruce have mysteriously disappeared from the public eye -- and where her father, Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott), has since launched a privatized police force, called The Crows.
But when Kate stumbles onto Bruce's secret bat cave, she -- with the help of Lucius Fox's son, Luke (Camrus Johnson) -- has taken it upon herself to carry on her cousin's superhero legacy. Kate starts to patrol the streets as Batwoman, Gotham's newest costumed crime fighter.
Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, who is one of the highest profile gay superheroes in the DC universe, "Batwoman" is part of CW's new fall show line-up, and will premiere sometime in the fall on Sunday nights.
