Gerard Butler proves that you can't keep a good man down, even after being falsely accused of attempting to assassinate the U.S. president.
Check out the first official trailer for "Angel Has Fallen," the third installment of the action film series, in which Butler plays Secret Service super-agent Mike Banning.
This time around, Mike is being framed for an assassination attempt on U.S. President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman). After escaping custody, Mike is forced to go on the run and soon finds himself turning to the one person who might keep him safe -- his dad! He's a reclusive survivalist (played by Nick Nolte) who's been living alone in the woods for years, if not decades.
Co-starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Danny Huston, Lance Reddick, Tim Blake Nelson, and Piper Perabo, the film is directed and co-written by former stunt performer-turned-action director Ric Roman Waugh, whose credits include the crime thrillers "Snitch" "Felon," and "Shot Caller."
"Angel Has Fallen" is due to hit theaters August 23rd.
synopsis:
When there is an assassination attempt on U.S. President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman), his trusted confidant, Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), is wrongfully accused and taken into custody. After escaping from capture, he becomes a man on the run and must evade his own agency and outsmart the FBI in order to find the real threat to the President. Desperate to uncover the truth, Banning turns to unlikely allies to help clear his name, keep his family from harm and save the country from imminent danger.
