After being invited to attend a mysterious summer festival in Sweden, a young American couple find themselves caught in an extremely eerie situation they can't quite handle or easily escape.

Check out the newly-released official trailer for "Midsommar," the latest spine-chilling, head-scratching thriller from Ari Aster, the acclaimed writer-director of last year's horror smash hit "Hereditary."

The film stars Florence Pugh (Fighting with My Family, Outlaw King) and Jack Reynor (Sing Street, Transformers: Age of Extinction) as Dani and Christian, a not-so-happy couple who are going through a recent rough patch. They, nevertheless, agree to travel to Sweden and attend a spiritual harvest festival together with a couple of friends.

But once there, Dani and Christian realize the festival is not what was advertised as it appears to be the operations of a possible doomsday cult. Think Fyre Festival meets The Wicker Man!

Co-starring Will Poulter (Black Mirror: Bandersnatch), William Jackson Harper (TV's The Good Place), Swedish actress Liv Mjones, and newcomer Isabelle Grill, "Midsommar" is scheduled to hit theaters July 3rd.

synopsis:
Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing.

From the visionary mind of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.
