Disney has just released the first official teaser trailer for "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil," the much-anticipated sequel to 2014's live-action dark fairy tale blockbuster, in which Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie portrays the iconic Sleeping Beauty villainess, the titular horned evil fairy godmother who is the queen of the Moors.

Elle Fanning is also back to once again play Princess Aurora, the ex-cursed sleeping beauty who is now married to her true love, Prince Philip (now played by English actor Harris Dickinson, from "The Darkest Minds" and the FX mini-series "Trust").

Michelle Pfeiffer (Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Endgame) has been added to the cast of the sequel. She plays Queen Ingrith, a human empress who gives Maleficent a not-so-warm welcome when she suddenly stops by for a brief visit at the castle.

"There are many who prey on the innocent," says Maleficent in the above teaser. "I'm sure your kind would agree."

"If I didn't know better, I'd say you were making a threat," Queen Ingrith angrily intones.

Maleficent quickly snaps back, "Well do you?" ("Do I what?") "Know better?"

"Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" is the solo directorial debut of Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Ronning, who is known for working alongside his former directing partner Espen Sandberg. Together, they previously co-directed "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" and the Oscar-nominated Norwegian drama "Kon-Tiki."

The fantasy film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 18th. Watch the teaser, above.

synopsis:
"Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" is a fantasy adventure that picks up several years after "Maleficent," in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney's most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora.

The film continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.
