Big Little Lies: Season 2 — Official Trailer

added: Fri, May 10th '19

The official trailer has been released for Season 2 of HBO's Emmy-and-Golden Globe-winning series "Big Little Lies," which adds Oscar-winner Meryl Streep to the cast.

Set in a picturesque California beach-side community teeming with endless chatter and gossip, the HBO series offers a darkly satirical take on the travails of motherhood, centering on the lives of three upper-middle-class mothers, played by Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley, each dealing with their own set of personal issues.

With Season 1 revolving around a mysterious murder investigation in which the mothers were implicated, Season 2 will chart the aftermath of that investigation, which is now considered an accidental death -- though not in the eyes of Meryl Streep's character. She is a grieving mother who is determined to uncover the truth about her son's death.

Executive produced by Emmy-winner David E. Kelley (Boston Legal, Ally McBeal, The Practice), and based on Liane Moriarty's best-selling novel of the same name, the show is set to return on Sunday, June 9th on HBO.

Acclaimed British filmmaker Andrea Arnold (American Honey, Wuthering Heights, Fish Tank) takes over the directing reins from Emmy-winning helmer Jean-Marc Vallee. She directs the entire new second season, which is consisting of seven episodes.

Based on Liane Moriarty's bestselling book, and featuring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley, this darkly comedic series tells the tale of three mothers whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to the point of murder.
