A once-famous successful Seattle architect and now-mother of a 15-year-old, Bernadette Fox, suddenly disappears and leaves her family behind for a life-changing trip to Antarctica.

Check out the new official trailer for "Where'd You Go, Bernadette," the latest offering from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Richard Linklater (Boyhood, School of Rock), in which Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett plays Bernadette, a complicated, frustrated woman in the midst of a midlife funk who seeks to "launch her second act" in life by working on a secret engineering project in Antarctica.

Newcomer Emma Nelson plays Bernadette's precocious teenage daughter, who, along with her father (played by Billy Crudup), tries to track down her mother by following a paper trail that includes her emails, documents, and private memos.

Co-starring Laurence Fishburne and Judy Greer with former SNL comedienne Kristen Wiig as an annoyed next-door neighbor, the bitter-sweet comedy is based on the 2012 best-selling novel of the same name by author Maria Semple.

"Where'd You Go, Bernadette" is slated for an August 16th theatrical release. Watch the trailer, above.

Based on the runaway bestseller, WHERE'D YOU GO, BERNADETTE is an inspiring comedy about Bernadette Fox (Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett), a loving mom who becomes compelled to reconnect with her creative passions after years of sacrificing herself for her family. Bernadette’s leap of faith takes her on an epic adventure that jump-starts her life and leads to her triumphant rediscovery.
