Oscar-winner Hilary Swank is a survivor of the robot apocalypse in the official trailer for the Netflix sci-fi thriller "I Am Mother," which also stars Clara Rugaard (Teen Spirit) and Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids, Neighbors) as the voice of a dubious robot called 'Mother.'

Set in a post-apocalyptic future, a teenage human girl (Rugaard) is raised in an underground facility by a highly intelligent, highly sophisticated robot droid (voiced by Byrne).

Told all her life that the outside world was uninhabitable, ravaged by a deadly virus, the girl is shocked to learn that human survivors still exist when a mysterious woman (Swank) suddenly breaks in and sneaks into her underground bunker.

"How are you not infected by the contagion outside?" The girl asks the stranger.

While looking confused and puzzled, the stranger asks, "Who put that in your head?"

Well, it was none other than the girl's robot mother, who evidently has been keeping pertinent information from her for years.

But in a situation like this, who do you trust more? The human stranger who just broke into your house, or the robot you called Mother who has taken care of you since birth?

Directed by first-time feature filmmaker Grant Sputore and featuring robot designs and visual effects by Weta Workshop, "I Am Mother" is due to premiere June 7th on Netflix.
