Batwoman: Season 1 — Official Promo Teaser

added: Wed, May 8th '19

The CW has released the first promo teaser for their latest superhero action series "Batwoman," which has just been officially picked up for its first season.

Touted as the first live-action scripted series to feature a lesbian superhero, in which "Orange Is the New Black" star Ruby Rose dons the cape and cowl, the CW series is based on the DC Comics character Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne's cousin who takes up the mantle of Gotham's bat-costumed protector when Bruce mysteriously goes missing.

Kate Kane/Batwoman (Ruby Rose) first appeared on the CW network back in December during the three-part Arrowverse crossover, "Elseworlds." That Arrow episode served as an introduction to what will now become an all-new CW/DC superhero series.

Developed by mega television producer Greg Berlanti (Arrowverse, Blindspot, You) and executive produced and written by showrunner Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries, Smallville), "Batwoman" will also star Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Nicole Kang, and Rachel Skarsten.

The series will premiere sometime during CW's 2019/2020 fall season.

Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence.
