"Mom, who am I?" "You're a gift."

Yes, he's a gift but sometimes gifts can be a real pain in the neck -- that is, if he didn't yet snap your neck in two.

Set to the music of Billie Eilish's hit song "Bad Guy," check out a new extended commercial for "Brightburn," a superhero horror movie from producer James Gunn, of "Guardians of the Galaxy" fame.

The thriller, which offers a twisted take on the Superman-like comic book mythology, stars Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, The Hunger Games) as the adoptive mother of a mysterious alien boy named Brandon (played here by Jackson A. Dunn).

Since crash-landing on Earth in a damaged spacecraft as a young infant, Brandon has been raised in a small American Midwestern town by two loving human parents (Banks and David Denman). But when the boy begins to develop superhuman abilities, Brandon eventually succumbs to his dark side, transforming himself into a flying, red-hooded super-villain.

Written by James Gunn's screenwriting brothers, Mark and Brian Gunn (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island), and directed by horror filmmaker David Yarovesky (The Hive), "Brightburn" is coming to theaters May 24th.

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?

With BRIGHTBURN, producer James Gunn, the visionary filmmaker of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Slither," presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
