Ellen Page (Inception, The Umbrella Academy) and Kate Mara (House of Cards) star as two women who, despite their opposing political views on the death penalty, find themselves in an unexpected romance in the new official trailer for "My Days of Mercy."

The small-town drama sees Page as Lucy, the daughter of a death-row inmate, who strongly opposes the use of capital punishment (prisoner executions).

Mara plays Mercy, a death penalty supporter fighting to keep her state's pro capital punishment stance. While protesting at a rally near a local prison, Mercy strikes up a conversation with Lucy, a fellow protester from the opposing side.

Though Lucy, a closeted lesbian, is reluctant and hesitant at first, she soon develops an intimate relationship with Mercy. Things only get more complicated when Lucy is forced to confront her sexuality for the first time.

The film is directed by Israeli filmmaker Tali Shalom-Ezer, who previously made the Israeli dramas "Princess" and "Surrogate."

Co-starring Elias Koteas (Chicago P.D.) and Amy Seimetz (Pet Sematary), "My Days of Mercy" will be released in the UK on May 17th before arriving in the U.S. on July 5th.
