Netflix has released the official trailer for "The Society," a new original streaming series that offers a modern take on "Lord of the Flies."

Executive produced by Christopher Keyser (creator of "Party of Five") and filmmaker Marc Webb (director of "500 Days of Summer" and "The Amazing Spider-Man"), the ten-episode Netflix thriller is set in a well-to-do New England town where all the adults have mysteriously disappeared. Left behind are high school-age teenagers who not only must fend for themselves, but also are forced to set up a new ruling system and social structure.

While unable to leave as the entire town is inexplicably blocked off by large trees and forest debris, a power struggle takes hold, pitting the jocks against the brains, the boys against the girls, and the weak against the strong.

Boasting an ensemble cast of mostly young actors, including Kathryn Newton (Pokemon Detective Pikachu), Rachel Keller (Legion), Grace Victoria Cox (Under the Dome), Gideon Adlon (Blockers), Alex Fitzalan (Slender Man), Alex MacNicoll (Transparent), and Toby Wallace (Romper Stomper), "The Society: Season 1" is set to premiere next week, Friday, May 10th on Netflix.

THE SOCIETY follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, left without any trace of their parents. As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive.
