Before we knew him as Batman's loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth was an international man of mystery. And this is the story of how he met a young billionaire named Thomas Wayne.

Check out the new official teaser trailer for "Pennyworth," a new DC origin series for the EPIX network, which stars British actor Jack Bannon (The Imitation Game) as a young Alfred Pennyworth.

Brought to you by the same producers of the FOX Batman-prequel series "Gotham," the 1960s-set action drama follows the early adventures of Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS agent working in London as a successful private security officer who ends up being hired to work for a young American industrialist named Thomas Wayne (played here by British actor Ben Aldridge, from "Fleabag" and "Reign").

Directed and executive produced by Danny Cannon (Gotham, CSI) and written and executive produced by "Gotham" creator Bruno Heller, "Pennyworth" also stars British singer/actress Paloma Faith (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus), Jason Flemyng (X-Men: First Class), and Polly Walker (Rome, Caprica) with newcomer Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack) as Martha Kane, the future mother of Bruce Wayne.

"Pennyworth: Season 1" is now scheduled to premiere Sunday, July 28th on the EPIX network.

From Warner Horizon Scripted Television, DC origin story Pennyworth is a ten-episode, one-hour drama series based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger.

It follows Bruce Wayne's legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), Bruce's billionaire father, in 1960's London.
