A young mother with superhuman abilities reunites with her equally gifted ten-year-old daughter in the superhero-tinged indie drama "Fast Color," for which a final trailer has been released.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw (star of "Black Mirror: San Junipero" and "A Wrinkle in Time") plays Ruth, a mother on the run who possesses a supernatural power in which she can "affect the energy of the Earth."

After years of hiding and evading shady government agents, Ruth returns home to reunite with her long-suffering mother (played by Orange Is the New Black's Lorraine Toussaint) and her now-ten-year-old daughter, Lila (Saniyya Sidney, from "Hidden Figures" and the FOX series "The Passage").

When Ruth learns Lila has developed superpowers of her own, both mother and daughter find themselves being hunted down by a rogue government scientist (played by Christopher Denham, from "Argo" and "Billions").

The film is directed by indie filmmaker Julia Hart, who previously made the teacher road-trip dramedy "Miss Stevens" and wrote the screenplay for the Civil War-set western thriller "The Keeping Room."

Hart also co-wrote "Fast Color" with her husband Jordan Horowitz, who is the Oscar-nominated producer of "La La Land."

Co-starring David Strathairn, "Fast Color" is hitting theaters this Friday, April 19th.
