Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story, The Nun) plays an isolated young woman with dark family secrets in the official trailer for "We Have Always Lived in the Castle," which also stars Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas, True Detective), Crispin Glover (American Gods, Back to the Future), and Sebastian Stan (The Avengers Films, I Tonya).

The upcoming mystery thriller is the adaptation of the 1962 Gothic novel by renowned horror author Shirley Jackson (of "The Haunting of Hill House" fame).

In it, Farmiga plays Mary Katherine "Merricat" Blackwood, a socially timid recluse who lives with her close-knit eccentric family, comprised of her agoraphobic older sister (Daddario) and their wheelchair-bound uncle (Glover). Still reeling from a tragic family death, Merricat has her life further disrupted when a mysterious, opportunistic cousin (Stan) unexpectedly drops in for an extended visit.

The film is directed by Stacie Passon, who made her feature debut with 2013's racy lesbian drama "Concussion" and has since directed a number of television episodes for such shows as "Billions," "Transparent," "American Gods" and the upcoming Netflix series "Tales of the City."

"We Have Always Lived in the Castle" is scheduled to be released in theaters and on VOD May 17th.
