Oscar-winner Russell Crowe is unrecognizable as he portrays controversial Fox News chief Roger Ailes in the first official teaser for "The Loudest Voice," Showtime's new limited series about the rise and fall of the now-late Ailes.

Based on journalist Gabriel Sherman's best-selling book "The Loudest Voice In The Room," the seven-episode Showtime drama charts the early days of Fox News, which was strategically molded by Roger Ailes, a notorious political consultant who was hand picked to run the news network by Fox mogul Rupert Murdoch. The series will also cover the widely publicized sexual harassment accusations that ultimately ended Ailes' career.

In addition to Crowe, the mini-series stars Naomi Watts as Fox anchor Gretchen Carlson who was the first public woman to accuse Ailes of sexual harassment; Simon McBurney as media tycoon Rupert Murdoch; Sienna Miller as Roger's wife, Beth Ailes; Seth MacFarlane as Ailes' right-hand man, Fox executive Brian Lewis, and Annabelle Wallis as Fox News booker Laurie Luhn.

Emmy-nominated director Kari Skogland (The Handmaid's Tale, Vikings, The Walking Dead) helms the first two episodes of "The Loudest Voice," which is set to debut Sunday, June 30th on Showtime.

synopsis:
In today's politically charged media landscape, no figure looms larger, even after his passing, than Roger Ailes, molding Fox News into a force that irrevocably changed the conversation about the highest levels of government. To understand the events that led to the rise of Donald Trump, one must understand Ailes.

Based on extensive reporting by Gabriel Sherman for his bestselling book, "The Loudest Voice In The Room," the upcoming limited series takes on that challenge, focusing primarily on the past decade in which Ailes arguably became the Republican Party's de facto leader, while also touching on defining events in Ailes' life, including an initial meeting with Richard Nixon on the set of The Mike Douglas Show that gave birth to Ailes' political career and including the sexual harassment accusations and settlements that brought his Fox News reign to an end.

Told through multiple points of view, the limited series aims to shed light on the psychology that drives the political process from the top down.
