An official teaser has been released for "Euphoria," HBO's new gritty teen television drama, starring Zendaya, of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "The Greatest Showman" fame.
The series is created, written, and produced by Sam Levinson, the writer-director of last year's cult high school thriller "Assassination Nation." Levinson also previously co-wrote the HBO Bernie Madoff movie "The Wizard of Lies," which was directed by his father, famed Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Levinson.
"Euphoria" is the American remake of the 2012 Israeli series of the same name. Zendaya plays a 17-year-old drug-addicted girl named Rue. She is among many teen characters who find themselves grappling with issues of sex, sexuality, and gender identity.
The cast also includes Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time), Maude Apatow (Assassination Nation), Algee Smith (The Hate U Give), Alexa Demie (Mid90s), Barbie Ferreira, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney (Sharp Objects), Austin Abrams (Brad's Status), Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth), and Eric Dane (Grey's Anatomy).
Executive produced by rapper Drake, alongside his manager/music executive Future the Prince, "Euphoria" is scheduled to premiere on HBO starting Sunday, June 16th.
