Laura Linney returns home to a bohemian LGBTQ-friendly community in San Francisco in the first official teaser trailer for "Tales of the City."

Based on the acclaimed long-running novel series by author Armistead Maupin, "Tales of the City," which also stars Ellen Page (The Umbrella Academy), Zosia Mamet (Girls), and Olympia Dukakis (Moonstruck), tells the story of a Midwestern-born conservative-raised woman named Mary Ann Singleton (Linney), who has made a home for herself in the most unlikely of places -- a close-knit, openly-gay neighborhood in downtown San Francisco.

Taking place in present day, the ten-episode drama is loosely based on the eighth book in the nine-book series, in which Mary Ann, after leaving San Francisco to pursue a career in Connecticut, has returned home to her old 28 Barbary Lane residence, where she soon tries to rekindle her relationships with her lesbian daughter (Page), ex-husband (Paul Gross), and her old, free-spirited friends, including her former eccentric landlady Anna Madrigal (Dukakis).

"Tales of the City" is scheduled to premiere on Netflix beginning June 7th.

synopsis:
