Two brothers have their relationship tested when one of them claims to have locked the devil in his basement.

Check out the official trailer for "I Trapped the Devil," a dark psychological horror thriller set during Christmas.

The indie film stars AJ Bowen (The Sacrament, You're Next) and Susan Burke (Southbound, IFC's Stan Against Evil) as Matt and Karen, a married couple who, to celebrate Christmas, pay a surprise visit to the home of Matt's estranged brother, Steve (played here by Scott Poythress, from Showtime's Homeland and FOX's Sleepy Hollow).

As soon they arrive at his brother's house, Matt and Karen find themselves stepping into a precarious and disturbing situation: Steve, while waving a loaded handgun, declares he has just kidnapped a stranger and has locked up that person in his downstairs basement for reasons only a madman would understand. Steve believes his mysterious hostage is the devil incarnate. Which could be true -- unless, of course, Steve is off his rocker!

Writer-director Josh Lobo makes his feature debut with "I Trapped the Devil," which also co-stars Jocelin Donahue (The House of the Devil) and Chris Sullivan (NBC's This Is Us).

The film is slated to hit select theaters and on VOD April 26th.

synopsis:
Christmas is supposed to be a time for peace and joyful family reunions. But when Matt (AJ Bowen) and his wife Karen (Susan Burke) show up unannounced at the home of his estranged brother Steve (Scott Poythress) to celebrate the holidays, they are instead greeted with a horrifying surprise: trapped in the basement is a man. But not just any man. Steve believes that his hostage is none other than the devil himself.

As shock and skepticism turn to fear and paranoia, Matt and Karen find themselves facing a terrifying quandary: is Steve dangerously unhinged? Or could the mysterious stranger really be evil incarnate? Either way, the stage is set for a true Christmas from hell.
