"Ant-man" actor David Dastmalchian and "Avengers: Endgame" actress Karen Gillan share the screen together in this gritty indie thriller, playing a young financially struggling couple who find themselves at the end of their rope after being increasingly bombarded by various misfortunes.

From a screenplay written by Dastmalchian, "All Creatures Here Below" is a grim portrait of two lost souls born into a life of hardship and abuse, compounded by years of bad decisions and bad luck. Their life only gets more grueling and desperate after they come into the possession of a small baby.

Indie filmmaker Collin Schiffli directs the film. He also directed 2014's SXSW-winning addiction drama "Animals," which also starred Dastmalchian, who wrote the script, as well.

Co-starring Jennifer Morrison, John Doe, Richard Cabral, and David Koechner, "All Creatures Here Below" is being released in theaters and on VOD May 17th. Watch the official trailer, above.
