John Lithgow falls in love with Blythe Danner in the new official trailer for the bittersweet romantic drama "The Tomorrow Man."

The 73-year-old Emmy-winning actor of "The Crown," who will also be seen next week in the Stephen King horror remake "Pet Sematary," plays Ed Hemsler, a retired elderly man who is obsessed with doomsday conspiracies, which of late has forced him to live in constant fear of what tomorrow may bring.

Meanwhile, the 76-year-old Emmy-winning actress (mother of Gwyneth Paltrow) plays Ronnie Meisner, an elderly woman who can't help but live in the past, constantly suffering from pain and loss.

This is essentially a love story about two lonely lost souls, one who fears of tomorrow, the other is stuck in the past. But together, they try to overcome their personal issues to enjoy the present.

Written and directed by commercial and music video director Noble Jones, "The Tomorrow Man" also co-stars Derek Cecil (Netflix's House of Cards), Katie Aselton (FX's Legion), Sophie Thatcher (Prospect), and Eve Harlow (CW's The 100). It's coming to select theaters on May 22nd. Watch the trailer, above.

synopsis:
Ed Hemsler spends his life preparing for a disaster that may never come. Ronnie Meisner spends her life shopping for things she may never use. In a small town somewhere in America, these two people will try to find love while trying not to get lost in each other's stuff.
