Avengers: Endgame — Official Featurette: 'We Lost'

"Imagine if, for the first time, our heroes all lost." Robert Downey Jr. says at the beginning of this brand-new "Avengers Endgame" featurette, which sadly doesn't reveal any new footage, but instead offers a quick recap of the ending of "Infinity War."

The clip features most of the cast as they discuss the emotional state of their characters, now that they are living in a new shell-shocked Marvel universe where half of the population has disintegrated into piles of ash and dust. Of course, this is the heartbreaking result of the genocidal actions of Thanos.

"Everyone's doing their best to keep their head above water but it's kind of a losing battle. We lost ... and we're not used to losing," Chris Evans says about the defeated attitude that Captain America shares with his fellow Avengers teammates.

But while it seems "Endgame" is all about doom and gloom, Evans does offer a bit of optimism: "The good thing is, it's always easier to build people back up after they've been broken down. And that's what Marvel is great at doing. It's that shred of hope everyone's looking for."

So prepare to shed tears of sadness and also joy as our heroes overcome an incredibly crushing loss, only to pick themselves up off the floor, so they can go once more into the breach!

"Avengers: Endgame" hits theaters everywhere on April 26th.
