Syfy has released the first official teaser trailer for Season 2 of "Krypton," DC's Superman-prequel series, which is being executive produced by screenwriter/producer David S. Goyer (Blade, Batman Begins, Man of Steel).

Set two generations before the total destruction of Superman's alien home planet, the series focuses on the early years of Superman's Kryptonian grandfather, Seg-El (played here by Cameron Cuffe).

The series started off with Seg-El's scientist grandfather, Val-El, being unjustly accused of treason and then is executed. After the family -- the House of El -- is stripped of all rights and privileges, Seg-El and his parents are banished to the slums of Krypton, where they must live under an authoritarian regime.

Seg-El eventually fights his way out of the slums and rises up the ranks of Krypton's high society, while maintaining a secret love affair with his childhood sweetheart, Lyta (Georgina Campbell), a young military officer from the House of Zod.

Season 1 mainly followed Seg-El as he teamed up with a time-traveling superhero named Adam Strange (played by Shaun Sipos), who came from present-day Earth to warn him about the arrival of Brainiac.

Season 2 will, apparently, feature more notable super-villains, including Doomsday and General Zod (played by Colin Salmon). The new season will also introduce the fan-favorite comic book character, Lobo. It was announced that Irish actor Emmett J. Scanlan (The Fall, Hollyoaks) has been cast to play the intergalactic alien biker on the series.

Executive produced by showrunner Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead), "Krypton: Season 2" will premiere later in the year.
