Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino travels back in time to 1969 Los Angeles -- a time when Hollywood was losing its glitz and glamour as the culture was moving away from age-old traditions and instead was embracing a certain type of hippie-dippie radicalism.

Check out the first official teaser trailer for "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," Tarantino's hotly-anticipated ninth film, a love letter to the entertainment industry of the late '60s and early '70s.

The film features a star-studded cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.

Here, DiCaprio plays a fading television action star, Rick Dalton, and Pitt plays Rick's stunt double, Cliff Booth. Together, Rick and Cliff serve as kind of like a couple of tour guides to a bygone era in this semi-satirical depiction of the final days of the old Hollywood studio system.

Margot Robbie co-stars in the film as actress Sharon Tate, a promising newcomer who at the time was married to filmmaker Roman Polanski. She was murdered in the summer of 1969 by members of the Manson Family. And though it's unclear if those events will be depicted in Tarantino's movie, Australian character actor Damon Herriman will appear in a small role as Charles Manson. In fact, the film will feature many notable figures of that time, including Bruce Lee (portrayed by Mike Moh).

"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is scheduled to be released in theaters sometime in July.
