Tell It to the Bees — Official Trailer

Anna Paquin has a forbidden love affair with Holliday Grainger (Cinderella, My Cousin Rachel) in the official trailer for "Tell It to the Bees."

Based on the best-selling novel by Fiona Shaw, the 1950s period drama sees Paquin as a young English doctor who has returned to her small hometown to take over her late father's medical practice. Her career is, however, put in jeopardy when her town learns of her secret lesbian relationship with a local single mother (played by Grainger), who happens to be currently staying at the doctor's childhood home.

Co-starring Gregor Selkirk, Kate Dickie, and Emun Elliott, "Tell It to the Bees" is directed by Annabel Jenkel, a former music video and commercial director who throughout the '80s and early '90s was known for working with her now ex-husband Rocky Morton. Together, they co-created and directed the famed '80s Max Headroom commercial and TV movie. And they, of course, also co-directed the notorious 1993 video-game adaptation flop "Super Mario Bros," which has since become something of a cult oddity.

"Tell It to the Bees" is being released in theaters and on VOD beginning May 3rd.

A single mother Lydia (Holliday Grainger) who is abandoned by her husband, meets the small village's Doctor Jean Markham (Anna Paquin) who has recently returned to her hometown when Lydia's son Charlie is taken under the doctor after being bullied in school. When Lydia and Charlie are unhoused because of Lydia's earnings from her work are not adequate to pay the rent, Jean invites them to stay in her home and she and Lydia soon develop a friendship and maybe something more.
