Starz has released the official trailer for "The Spanish Princess," a new limited series based on the best-selling historical fiction novels "The Constant Princess" and "The King's Curse" by acclaimed English novelist Philippa Gregory, of "The Other Boleyn Girl" fame.

The upcoming eight-part miniseries is a follow-up to Starz's hit historical dramas "The White Princess" and "The White Queen," which were also based on Gregory's novel series set against the history of England's royal dynasties.

"The Spanish Princess" stars English actress Charlotte Hope (who you may remember as Myranda, one of Ramsay Snow's sadistic mistresses, in HBO's "Game of Thrones") as Catherine of Aragon, a Spanish princess who, despite a lack of support from rivals, becomes the Princess of Wales and later winds up becoming the Queen of England as the first wife of King Henry VIII.

Executive produced by Emma Frost (The White Princess, The White Queen) and Matthew Graham (Life on Mars), "The Spanish Princess" is scheduled to premiere Sunday, May 5th on Starz.

synopsis:
THE SPANISH PRINCESS follows "Catherine of Aragon," the beautiful teenaged princess of Spain who was promised the English throne since she was a child. She arrives in a grey, rain-lashed England with her glorious and diverse court, including her lady-in-waiting Lina, a Sub-Saharan African. She becomes Princess of Wales, but when her husband Prince Arthur dies suddenly, the throne seems lost to Catherine. However, she claims her marriage was never consummated and that therefore as a virgin she may set her sights on the new heir, the charismatic and headstrong Prince Harry who will one day rule as King Henry VIII.
