Producer James Gunn has merged the horror and superhero genres together. The result is a terrifying story of a young orphan boy with super human abilities who doesn't use his powers for good, but rather uses them for evil.

Check out the new official trailer for "Brightburn," a superhero horror movie that puts a twisted spin on the Superman origin story: a human-like alien infant boy crash-lands on Earth. He is soon adopted by two loving Midwestern human parents. They raise him as their own and raise him to be good. Unfortunately, he is not as innocent or as wholesome as he looks. The boy is turning into a supervillain -- and a powerful one at that.

Jackson A. Dunn (Shameless) stars as the sinister young tyke, Brandon Breyer, while Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, The Hunger Games) plays Brandon's adoptive mother who, despite clear evidence, is refusing to believe her boy is evil.

James Gunn, the filmmaker of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Slither," produces the film, which is written by his screenwriting brothers, Mark Gunn & Brian Gunn (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island).

Co-starring David Denman (Logan Lucky, 13 Hours) as Brandon's adoptive, and deeply concerned father, "Brightburn" is directed by horror filmmaker David Yarovesky, who previously made the Memento-like zombie thriller "The Hive."

"Brightburn" is coming to theaters May 24th.

synopsis:
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?

With BRIGHTBURN, producer James Gunn, the visionary filmmaker of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Slither," presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
