The official trailer has been released for Cinemax's new 19th-century martial-arts series "Warrior," which is based on the writings of legendary action superstar Bruce Lee.

Executive produced by "Banshee" co-creator Jonathan Tropper and "Fast and Furious" director Justin Lin, "Warrior" is a ten-episode action drama taking place in 19th century San Francisco's Chinatown.

London-born actor Andrew Koji (from Netflix's The Innocents) stars as Ah Sahm, a Chinese immigrant and gifted martial-arts fighter who travels to America for a better life, only to be thrust into the violent feud between powerful Chinese street gangs -- it was a decades-long street war in San Francisco known historically as "The Tong Wars."

The Cinemax series is based on a nearly 50-year-old story treatment written by martial-arts icon Bruce Lee. Shannon Lee, Bruce's daughter, is serving as one of the executive producers on the series.

The cast also includes Olivia Cheng (Deadly Class), Jason Tobin (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift), and Hoon Lee (Banshee) with Tom Weston-Jones (Copper), Christian McKay (Me and Orson Welles), and Dustin Nguyen (21 Jump Street).

"Warrior: Season 1" premieres April 5th on Cinemax.
