It's Joey King like you've never seen her before, starring in Hulu's new true-crime series about one of the most bizarre, most tragic, and most elaborately-engineered cases of Munchausen's Syndrome in recent history.

The "Kissing Booth" actress stars opposite Oscar-and-Emmy-Award-winner Patricia Arquette (Boyhood, Escape at Dannemora) in the upcoming eight-part limited series "The Act," for which an official trailer has been released.

King portrays Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a young woman who, despite being perfectly healthy, is coerced into living a false life as a mentally impaired young girl suffering from leukemia, asthma, and muscular dystrophy.

Arquette plays Gypsy Rose's mother from hell, the overprotective abuser Dee Dee Blanchard, who has not only convinced her neighbors but also local doctors that Gypsy Rose is a sick girl.

The Hulu drama is based on the incredible true story of Gypsy Rose and Dee Dee Blanchard, an extreme case of Munchausen's Syndrome that ultimately ends in murder.

Executive produced by Nick Antosca (Syfy's Channel Zero) and crime journalist Michelle Dean, with French filmmaker Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre (The Mustang) helming the premiere episode, "The Act" is slated to debut on Wednesday, March 20th, exclusively on Hulu. Watch the official trailer, above.
