Shazam! — New Official Trailer

He possesses super strength, electricity manipulation, and hyperspeed, but DC's newest superhero is still just a boy at heart.

Check out the brand-new official trailer for "Shazam!," the eagerly-anticipated DC superhero comedy about an ordinary 15-year-old kid named Billy Batson (Asher Angel) who is given super powers by a mysterious ancient wizard (Djimon Hounsou). Now Billy is able to physically transform himself into an adult superhero (played here by Zachary Levi) by shouting out the name ... Shazam!

Directed by horror helmer David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation), the upcoming film, which is essentially the superhero version of the classic Tom Hanks comedy "Big," also stars Jack Dylan Grazer (from the horror movie "IT") as Billy's best friend, Freddy. He's a comic book enthusiast who helps Billy on his journey as he goes from being a silly teen boy to becoming a great superhero -- or at least, a superhero that can master the skills of saving lives.

Mark Strong (Kingsman, Kick-Ass) co-stars as the movie's main bad guy -- Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, a nefarious industrialist with newly-acquired telekinetic powers who wants to conquer the world, naturally.

"Shazam!" is due to arrive in theaters April 5th. Watch the new trailer, above.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word -- SHAZAM! -- this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart -- inside a ripped, godlike body -- Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).
