Sophie Turner is a force to be reckoned with in the new official trailer for Fox-and-Marvel's eagerly-anticipated Jean Grey-focused "X-Men" sequel, "Dark Phoenix."

The "Game of Thrones" actress is reprising her role as the titular red-headed mutant superhero with telekinetic and telepathic powers in this latest adaptation of the iconic X-Men comic book story-line, "The Dark Phoenix Saga," which tells Jean Grey's tragic transformation into her fiery super-villain alter-ego.

Jessica Chastain joins the cast as a mysterious alien villain who, in order to harness her powers, tries to manipulate the young Jean Grey into embracing her dark side.

"Look, you're special Jean," Chastain's character says in the above trailer. "And if you stop fighting that force inside you, and if you embrace it, you will possess the very power of a God."

Returning cast members include Jennifer Lawrence (as Mystique), James McAvoy (as Professor X), Michael Fassbender (as Magneto), Tye Sheridan (as Cyclops), Nicholas Hoult (as Beast), Evan Peters (as Quicksilver), Alexandra Shipp (as Storm), and Kodi Smit-McPhee (as Nightcrawler).

Screenwriter/film and TV producer Simon Kinberg, who has served as the main producer of the "X-Men" film franchise since "X-Men: First Class," is making his directorial debut with "Dark Phoenix."

Also, written by Kinberg, "Dark Phoenix" is coming to theaters June 7th.

synopsis:
In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite -- not only to save Jean's soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
