Disney's eagerly anticipated remake of the classic 1994 animated musical "The Lion King" has received its first official TV spot, which debuted during Sunday night's broadcast of the 2019 Oscars Awards.

Featuring a cast of photorealistic computer-generated talking African animals, the film has been described as a "live-action" re-telling of the noble journey of a young lion prince named Simba who, after years of living in exile, returns home to reclaim the throne from his evil uncle, Scar.

Hailing from Jon Favreau, the director of "The Jungle Book," the film boasts an all-star voice cast that includes Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Seth Rogen, John Oliver, Billy Eichner, Keegan-Michael Key, and Beyonce Knowles-Carter.

"The Lion King" opens July 19th.

But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa's brother -- and former heir to the throne -- has plans of his own.
