After Life: Season 1 — Official Trailer

Netflix has released the official trailer for "After Life," a new streaming series created by and starring British comedian Ricky Gervais (The Office, Extras, Derek).

Also written and directed by Gervais, the six-episode dramedy follows a middle-aged Englishman named Tony (Gervais) whose life is upended when his beloved wife dies from a terminal disease. Now in the midst of a particularly nasty bout of depression, sadness, and irritability, Tony tries to get through the day without hurting himself or others -- until he realizes he has the total freedom to be as rude as he wants.

Slightly more dramatic than what we have come to expect from the guy who created the doofus character David Brent, though clearly another exploration of a misanthropic curmudgeon, "After Life" also co-stars Kerry Godliman (Derek), Ashley Jensen (Catastrophe, Extras), David Bradley (Game of Thrones, Doctor Who), and Paul Kaye (It's All Gone Pete Tong, Game of Thrones).

"After Life" premieres March 8th on Netflix.

From the mind of Ricky Gervais, AFTER LIFE is a the story of Tony, who had an all-too-perfect life. But after his wife Lisa suddenly dies, Tony changes.

He decides instead to live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he likes from now on. He thinks it’s like a Super Power — not caring about himself or anyone else — but it turns out to be tricky when everyone is trying to save the nice guy they used to know.
