Samuel L. Jackson has dusted off his leather jacket and is once again hitting the streets as the world's coolest private-eye. And this time around, John Shaft is taking on a complicated case that will require the skills and talents of three generations of Shaft men. (Aaah, shut your mouth!)

Check out the first official trailer for "Shaft," the latest chapter in the detective film franchise about a bad mutha named John Shaft.

Directed by "Ride Along" helmer Tim Story, working from a script by "Black-ish" creator Kenya Barris and "The Goldbergs" writer Alex Barnow, "Shaft," which is the fifth film in the series and the direct sequel to the 2000 "Shaft" movie, will be introducing John Shaft's son to the franchise.

JJ, aka John Shaft Jr. (played by Independence Day: Resurgence's Jessie T. Usher), is a cyber security expert who, when investigating the mysterious death of his best friend, enlists the help of his estranged, streetwise P.I. father (Jackson).

Richard Roundtree, aka the original Shaft, will also return to the action-crime sequel, again playing Samuel L. Jackson's uncle and Jessie T. Usher's grandfather, John Shaft the first.

The cast also includes Regina Hall (Support the Girls), Alexandra Shipp (Dark Phoenix) and Luna Lauren Velez (The First Purge ).

"Shaft" is hitting theaters June 14th.

synopsis:
SHAFT is the next chapter in the film franchise featuring the coolest private eye on any New York City block.

JJ, aka John Shaft Jr. (Jessie T. Usher), may be a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, but to uncover the truth behind his best friend's untimely death, he needs an education only his dad can provide. Absent throughout JJ's youth, the legendary locked-and-loaded John Shaft (Samuel L. Jackson) agrees to help his progeny navigate Harlem's heroin-infested underbelly. And while JJ's own FBI analyst's badge may clash with his dad's trademark leather coat, there's no denying family. Besides, Shaft's got an agenda of his own, and a score to settle that's professional and personal.
