Check out the first official teasers for "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark," a new young teen-centric horror movie produced by Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Hellboy).

Based on the urban legend-inspired children's book series of the same name by Alvin Schwartz, the film stars Zoe Colletti (Annie), Michael Garza (Wayward Pines), Austin Abrams (Brad's Status), Gabriel Rush (Moonrise Kingdom), Austin Zajur (Fist Fight), and Natalie Ganzhorn (Make It Pop) as a group of neighborhood kids who band together when their town is plagued by horrific nightmares.

Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Gil Bellows (The Shawshank Redemption), Lorraine Toussaint (Into the Badlands), and known creature performer Javier Botet (IT, Mama, Crimson Peak) also star.

The upcoming film is directed by Norwegian-born horror filmmaker Andre Ovredal, who previously made the cult found-footage mockumentary "Trollhunter" and also helmed the morgue-set supernatural thriller "The Autopsy of Jane Doe."

"Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" is currently scheduled to open theatrically on August 9th.

Inspired by one of the most terrifying children's book series of all time, SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town.
