New Zealand-born comedian/filmmaker Taika Waititi (of "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Hunt of the Wilderpeople" fame) executive produces and presents this new Kiwi comedy about two female best friends who start a small local business, in which they provide a break-up service to cowardly clients who are looking for a fast and easy way to dump their romantic partners.

Set to premiere later this month on Netflix, "The Breaker Upperers" is written, directed, and starring New Zealand comic actresses Jackie van Beek and Madeleine Sami as two best friends/business partners whose relationship is tested when one of them becomes romantically involved with one of their break-up clients.

The film, which also stars James Rolleston (The Dead Lands, Boy), premiered last year at the SXSW Film Festival, where it earned positive reviews.

Netflix will stream "The Breaker Upperers" in a couple of weeks, beginning Friday, February 15th. In the meantime, you can check out the official U.S. trailer, above.

synopsis:
Fifteen years ago, Mel (Madeleine Sami) and Jen (Jackie van Beek) discovered they were being two-timed by the same man. Bitter and cynical they became fast friends and formed The Breaker Upperers, a small-time business breaking up couples for cash. Now they're in their late-thirties and business is booming. They're a platonic, codependent couple who keep their cynicism alive by not getting emotionally involved with anybody else. But when they run into an old victim, Mel develops a conscience and their friendship is truly put to the test.
