From executive producers Michael B. Jordan and Oprah Winfrey and created and written by Oscar-winning "Moonlight" scribe Tarell Alvin McCraney comes a new coming-of-age drama series for the OWN network.

Check out the newly-released first look trailer for Season One of "David Makes Man," which stars newcomer Akili McDowell as a 14-year-old African-American prodigy who, while living in the projects of South Florida, must work through personal trauma and financial challenges to establish strong plans for the future.

Drawing on events from McCraney's own childhood and produced by showrunner Dee Harris-Lawrence (Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.), the series also stars Alana Arenas (Electric Dreams, Chicago P.D.) and Phylicia Rashad (Creed I & II, The Cosby Show).

Currently premiering at this year's Sundance, "David Makes Man" will air later in the year on Oprah's OWN network.

A 14-year-old prodigy from the projects who is haunted by the death of his closest friend and relied on by his hardworking mother to find a way out of poverty. Inspired by events in series creator Tarell Alvin McCraney's own life.
