The first official trailer has been released for "The White Crow," an upcoming historical drama that tells the incredible true story of renowned Russian ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, who, while traveling through Paris in 1961, managed to defect from the Soviet Union to the West, despite being closely guarded by the K.G.B.

Two-time Oscar-nominated English actor Ralph Fiennes directs the film, which stars real-life ballet dancer-turned-first-time actor Oleg Ivenko as Nureyev, while Fiennes also co-stars as Nureyev's Russian ballet coach Alexander Pushkin.

The cast also includes French actress Adele Exarchopoulos (Blue Is the Warmest Color), French actor Raphael Personnaz (Anna Karenina, The New Girlfriend) and Ukrainian dancer Sergei Polunin.

Inspired by the biographical book "Nureyev: The Life" by Julie Kavanagh and written by award-winning English screenwriter David Hare (The Hours, The Reader), "The White Crow" is due to be released internationally March 12th.

Acquired by Sony Picture Classics, the film is expected to be released in the U.S. at a later date.
