Check out a new official teaser trailer for Amazon's new original series "The Boys," which is based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's gritty, edgy comic book series of the same name, which centers on a group of rough-and-tumble vigilantes trying to take down a corporate-funded, world-famous, yet deeply crooked superhero team called "The Seven."

Executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the show stars Karl Urban (Dredd, Star Trek), Jack Quaid (Logan Lucky), Laz Alonso (Detroit, Avatar), Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad), and Tomer Kapon (Entebbe) as the members of an underground vigilante team who call themselves, "The Boys."

Set in an alternate contemporary world where superheroes are revered by the public and treated like powerful, highly influential celebrities, The Boys are on a mission to keep an eye on the superhero community and look for any signs of corruption. They hit the jackpot when they start to investigate Vought International, a shadowy corporation that presides over superhero celebrities. The company's main clients are "The Seven" (played here by Erin Moriarty, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, Dominique McElligott, Antony Starr, and Nathan Mitchell) who are the most famous superhero team in the world, and are secretly the most corrupt.

Also co-starring Elisabeth Shue (Battle of the Sexes, Leaving Las Vegas) as shady Vought executive Madelyn Stillwell and Jennifer Esposito (Blue Bloods) as CIA Agent Susan Raynor with a guest-star appearance by Simon Pegg, "The Boys" is slated for a Summer 2019 release, only on Amazon Prime Video. Watch the new teaser, above.

synopsis:
In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, THE BOYS centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "The Boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes -- who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods -- abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about "The Seven," and Vought -- the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes.
