In a role that appears to have been perfectly tailored for him, Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey goes full McConaughey as a pot-smoking, bongo-banging street poet in the new official trailer for the off-kilter slacker/stoner comedy "The Beach Bum."

Written and directed by indie auteur Harmony Korine (the mind that brought you "Spring Breakers"), "The Beach Bum" is a darkly comic character study of a Hunter S. Thompson-like ne'er-do-well who goes by the name Moondog (played here by McConaughey).

After inserting himself into the leisure class of Florida's super rich, Moondog spends most of his time boozing, sunbathing, speed-boating, and getting high on a cocktail of drugs. But when his party lifestyle becomes a personal liability and a major legal issue, Moondog vows to clean up his act and finally finish his manuscript ... "the next greatest American novel!"

Featuring a stellar supporting cast that includes the likes of Snoop Dog, Isla Fisher, Jonah Hill, Zac Efron, Martin Lawrence, and legendary laid-back singer Jimmy Buffett, "The Beach Bum" is coming to theaters March 29th. Watch the red band trailer, above.
