In the role that earned him the Best Actor Award at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, Hold the Dark) plays an old prison inmate who is about to be released after serving 24 years in the official trailer for "O.G."

Filmed at an actual prison, with real-life prisoners playing prisoners, this HBO original film centers on Louis (Wright), a maximum-security inmate and a former gang leader who genuinely regrets his crimes and, while serving a little more than two decades behind bars, has tried to live a life of dignity and self-respect.

With only weeks to go before his release, Louis finds his impending freedom jeopardized when a young unschooled inmate (played by real-life inmate Theothus Carter) asks for his help in getting him out of a violent situation.

Co-starring William Fichtner (12 Strong), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), and Mare Winningham (The Affair), "O.G." is directed by documentarian-turned-first-time feature helmer Madeleine Sackler (The Lottery, Dangerous Acts Starring the Unstable Elements of Belarus) working from a script by acclaimed playwright/screenwriter Stephen Belber (Tape, Match, The Laramie Project)

"O.G." will debut on HBO beginning February 23rd.

synopsis:
O.G. follows Louis (Jeffrey Wright), once the head of a prominent prison gang, in the final weeks of his 24-year sentence. His impending release is upended when he takes new arrival Beecher (Theothus Carter), who is being courted by gang leadership, under his wing. Coming to grips with the indelibility of his crime and the challenge of reentering society, Louis finds his freedom hanging in the balance as he struggles to save Beecher.
