They didn't just threw up devil horns. They wore them too, quite proudly. That's why they became the most notorious black-metal band in history!

Rory Culkin (Castle Rock, Signs) and Emory Cohen (Brooklyn) star as the founding members of Mayhem, the infamous 1980s Norwegian black metal band with a notoriously violent and tragic history, in the darkly comic English-language biopic "Lords of Chaos," for which an official trailer has been released.

Swedish-born music video director-turned-filmmaker Jonas Akerlund (Netflix's Polar, Spun, Small Apartments), who was once a black metal drummer during the early '80s, directs this bleak, off-kilter docudrama, which tells the rise and fall of the first and most controversial Norwegian black metal band in history, Mayhem, in which the leading two members became tragically obsessed with death and destruction. They orchestrated a string of church burnings, before being disbanded after a disturbing act of murder and suicide.

Based on the investigative book "Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground" by music journalists Michael Moynihan and Didrik Soderlind, the film also stars Jack Kilmer (The Nice Guys), Valter Skarsgard (Arn: The Kingdom at the End of the Road), and Anthony De La Torre (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) as the other members of Mayhem.

Singer/model Sky Ferreira also co-stars in the film as Culkin's girlfriend, an underground music photographer.

After premiering to strong reviews at Sundance last year, "Lords of Chaos" is now coming to theaters February 8th with a VOD release set for February 22nd.
