The Hole in the Ground — International Trailer

added: Fri, Jan 11th '19

An Irish mother believes something is horribly wrong with her young son in this supernatural horror thriller from first-time feature filmmaker Lee Cronin.

Set to make its world premiere later this month at the Sundance Film Festival, as part of its midnight lineup, "The Hole in the Ground" follows a young single mother, Sarah (played by Irish actress Seana Kerslake; "Can't Cope, Won't Cope"), as she moves her son, Chris (James Quinn Markey; "Vikings"), to a small rural town in Ireland.

One day, Chris runs off into the nearby forest. When Sarah goes to look for him, she discovers a giant mysterious sinkhole. Mother and son are soon reunited. But something is different about the way Chris's acting. Something is seriously off. But what? And what's the connection between Sarah's son and the mysterious sinkhole? Could it possibly be an alien body-snatching situation, or is Sarah just losing her mind?

Co-starring James Cosmo (Braveheart), Kati Outinen (Le Havre), and Simone Kirby (Artemis Fowl), "The Hole in the Ground" will debut at Sundance this month before opening in the UK and Ireland on March 1st.

As of yet, there's no official U.S. release date, but the film has already been acquired by A24 Films.

Trying to escape her broken past, Sarah O'Neill (Seana Kerslake) is building a new life on the fringes of a backwood rural town with her young son Chris (James Quinn Markey). A terrifying encounter with a mysterious neighbor shatters her fragile security, throwing Sarah into a spiraling nightmare of paranoia and mistrust, as she tries to uncover if the disturbing changes in her little boy are connected to an ominous sinkhole buried deep in the forest that borders their home.
