Netflix has released the official trailer for the forthcoming animated adventure series "Carmen Sandiego," which is based on Broderbund's popular 1980s and '90s educational video game, children's game show, and cartoon franchise featuring a hard-to-catch international female thief.

Gina Rodriguez, star of the CW comedy series "Jane the Virgin," is lending her voice to the titular Robin Hood-like bandit, while "Stranger Things" star Finn Wolfhard is voicing Carmen's main accomplice, a tech wiz who goes by the name "The Player."

Produced by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and DHX Media, the Netflix series is delving into the origins of Carmen Sandiego, chronicling her early years as a young thief in training and showing how she became a master burglar who refuses to harm the innocent by only stealing from other thieves.

"Carmen Sandiego" premieres January 18th on Netflix.

Carmen is a modern day Robin Hood traveling the globe and stealing from V.I.L.E. and giving back to its victims. Carmen is publicly perceived as a criminal by most law enforcement agencies -- correction, make that a master criminal due to the sheer scale and theatricality of her heists. We will follow her escapades and get to determine not only where but WHO in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
